Everyday I am tempted to live as Herb 1.0, believing that something I do can bring God closer to me, to be worthy of His love.
Everyday, I strive to live as Herb 2.0, knowing that God comes to me, in spite of me, because He loves me.
20Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. 22Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.

Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29so that no one may boast before him. 30It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31Therefore, as it is written: “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.”

Thanks for that encouragement, Jay. I didn’t know how to really “say” what I was thinking from that passage. I’m thankful God gives us multiple ways to express ourselves, and good examples to follow (*cough* @MichaelDPerkins *cough*).
Great illustration and thoughts. Those first blocks, leaning and swaying, have come crashing down on me many times. They’re not as weighty as they look, but God is always there to help reestablish the right pattern and show me who He is and how He operates again. Wonderful reminder. Thank you Herb.

the thing is, we’re still not those things – except where God elevates us for his purposes.
This is so good Herb. I love how it says that God “was pleased through the foolishness…” because the longer we’re stuck in 1.0 we can never get high enough. His power is made perfect in our weakness and I’m thankful for that!

Those drawings are art. I mean, being a herbal mix of who you are already made you a creative person but this just is amazing. And now on to poetry. haha.
haha – poetry… there is some of that buried in this blog somewhere… about the drawing, seriously, I sketched it on my legal pad, tore it out, then scanned it to my computer.
also, I went through several different versions… drawing in red pen on yellow paper means I can’t use white-out
You made me laugh. Really! You remember me? Who doesn’t know everything in your language? I mean “white-out”? “legal pad”? ???? But I’m creative myself and I think the fact you scanned it made it also look this way. I once draw something simple about the Father, Son and Holy Spirit on a common paper and because I tore it up bad I had to copy it. Because I copied it it looked way much better. A friend told me it should be printed on cards. But no thank you.
Okay, It’s really bedtime now. In the morning early up. I don’t think my writing is corect now. Bye bey.
